How to convert a video to MP3
Ubahin pulls the audio track out of your video and encodes it to MP3 with the LAME encoder. It all happens in your browser, so the video is never sent to a server. For videos a few minutes long, the result is usually ready in seconds.
You can add several videos at once (up to 12 files) and download all the results as one ZIP.
Three simple steps
Add your video
Drag the file into the box above or choose it from your device. Several files at once works too.
Choose the quality
MP3 at 192 kbps suits most uses. 128 kbps is more economical, 320 kbps is the clearest.
Convert and download
Press Convert now, wait for the progress bar to fill, then download the MP3, or everything as a ZIP.
What you can set
Trim with a waveform
Drag the start and end markers on the waveform, or type the times. Listen to the clip before converting.
ID3 tags and album art
Fill in title, artist, album, year, genre and cover so tracks look right in your music player.
Fades and volume
Rise or fall gradually, even out volume across tracks (normalization), or raise and lower it by up to 12 dB.
VBR and mono
Variable quality saves space. Mono nearly halves the size for talks and podcasts.
Frequently asked questions
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps is enough for everyday music. 128 kbps is fine for talks and podcasts. 256 to 320 kbps suits sharp ears or good audio gear. If the original sound in the video is low quality, raising the bitrate will not make it clearer.
Will the sound or picture quality drop?
Converting to a lossy format (MP3, MP4) means compressing again. At the Good or High settings the difference is usually hard to notice. Raising the bitrate or resolution above the original does not improve the result, and Ubahin never upscales resolution. For full-quality audio, choose FLAC or WAV.
Can I download from YouTube, TikTok or Instagram?
No. Links from those platforms are deliberately not processed: their terms of service prohibit downloading with third-party tools, and their content is generally protected by copyright. If the video or audio is yours, download it from your own account and drop the file into Ubahin to convert it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg, so your files are never sent to Ubahin's servers. The only thing your browser downloads is the conversion engine (about 7 MB, once, then cached). If you use the Link field, the file is fetched directly from its source into your browser.
What is the maximum file size?
We set no limit, but browsers have memory limits. As a guideline, up to about 500 MB is comfortable on a laptop and up to about 200 MB on a phone. Larger files can make the browser run out of memory; trim first or use a more powerful device.
What if the video has no sound?
Ubahin will tell you the file has no audio track to extract. Make sure the video you picked actually contains sound.
