Fetch video or audio from a link, then convert it
Paste a direct file link (.mp4, .mp3 and the like), a Wikimedia Commons page, or an Internet Archive item. Ubahin fetches it straight into your browser, ready to convert.

Supported sources, and what is not
Ubahin is built for files you are allowed to use: your own, openly licensed, or used with permission. So the Link feature supports direct files, Wikimedia Commons (license and creator are shown, with a copy-attribution button), and Internet Archive.
Links from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Spotify, SoundCloud and similar platforms are not processed, because their terms of service prohibit downloading with third-party tools and their content is generally protected by copyright.
Three simple steps
Paste the link
Open the Link tab above, paste the address, then press Check. Ubahin also recognizes a link you paste (Ctrl+V) anywhere on the page.
Fetch the file
Check the size, license and creator, then press Fetch this file. Download progress is shown.
Convert it
The file joins the list; choose the format and quality as usual, then download the result.
What you can set
Direct files
Links ending in .mp4, .webm, .mp3, .ogg and the like, as long as the source server allows fetching from a browser.
Wikimedia Commons
License, creator and any required attribution appear automatically.
Internet Archive
If an item holds many files, you choose which one.
Not through our servers
Fetching happens from your browser to the source server; Ubahin stores nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download from YouTube, TikTok or Instagram?
No. Links from those platforms are deliberately not processed: their terms of service prohibit downloading with third-party tools, and their content is generally protected by copyright. If the video or audio is yours, download it from your own account and drop the file into Ubahin to convert it.
Why did my direct file link fail?
Many servers do not allow other sites to fetch their files from a browser (a CORS policy). When that happens, download the file through your browser as usual and drop it into Ubahin.
May I use files from Commons or Archive?
It depends on each file's license. Many are free to use or need attribution; some have other conditions. Ubahin shows the recorded license; you are still responsible for making sure your use complies.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg, so your files are never sent to Ubahin's servers. The only thing your browser downloads is the conversion engine (about 7 MB, once, then cached). If you use the Link field, the file is fetched directly from its source into your browser.
What is the maximum file size?
We set no limit, but browsers have memory limits. As a guideline, up to about 500 MB is comfortable on a laptop and up to about 200 MB on a phone. Larger files can make the browser run out of memory; trim first or use a more powerful device.
