Guide

Trim precisely instead of guessing

The waveform makes it easy to find where the part you want starts and ends, for example the pause before a sentence begins. Markers can be dragged with a finger or mouse, moved with the arrow keys (Shift jumps one second), or you can simply type the time.

The preview plays exactly the part you selected, so you know the result before processing. Trimming re-encodes that part, so the cut points are precise.

How it works

Three simple steps

1

Add your file

Video or audio. For audio-only files the output automatically becomes audio.

2

Turn on Trim

Drag the markers on the waveform or type the start and end times. Press Play the trimmed part to listen.

3

Convert and download

Choose the output format, then press Convert now.

Features

What you can set

Touch-friendly markers

Large touch targets on phones, and keyboard support for fine adjustment.

Times you can type

Minutes:seconds, for example 1:23.5 or 83.5 seconds.

Combine with other features

Trim, then convert to MP3, compress, or make a GIF in one step.

Separate trims per file

Each file in the list has its own trim.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the trim accurate to the second?

Yes. Because the selected part is re-encoded, the cut points follow the times you set instead of being rounded to keyframes.

Why is the waveform not showing?

The waveform is drawn from the file's sound. For very large files (over about 150 MB) or ones whose sound the browser cannot read, a plain timeline is shown; the markers and time fields still work.

Why is converting video slower than extracting MP3?

Extracting audio (MP3) is light work and usually finishes in seconds. Converting video means re-encoding every frame, and that is done by your device's processor, not by a server. As a rough guide, 480p to 720p video takes about one to two times its duration. Choosing a smaller resolution, the "Fast" speed, or trimming to the part you need makes it faster.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg, so your files are never sent to Ubahin's servers. The only thing your browser downloads is the conversion engine (about 7 MB, once, then cached). If you use the Link field, the file is fetched directly from its source into your browser.

What is the maximum file size?

We set no limit, but browsers have memory limits. As a guideline, up to about 500 MB is comfortable on a laptop and up to about 200 MB on a phone. Larger files can make the browser run out of memory; trim first or use a more powerful device.
